Justin Light & The Midnighters: Rocking and rollicking high-octane 21st Century rhythm and blues.
Previously with Twentyseven, Youth of Britain, The Sonic Jewels and Atomic Workers, Justin has recorded/ performed at Abbey Road, Reading Festival and Ronnie Scott’s. He has been on BBC TV & Radio, MTV, has supported Annastasia in Germany and The Prodigy on tour in the U.K.
Influenced by the Mississippi Delta Blues of the 20's, Chicago Blues of the 50's, Credence Clearwater Revival, Rory Gallagher, Duane Allman, Jeff Beck, Steppenwolf, Jimi Hendrix & Led Zeppelin… not to mention a healthy dose of social commentary satire from the likes of Bob Dylan, Ian Dury & The Blockheads, Dr. Feelgood & Zappa, during lockdown Justin wrote, recorded and released his first solo album. As public performance returned, he took this to small clubs and festivals. Since then, Justin has formed The Midnighters and recorded and released a vinyl & digital album “This Ain’t Nothing But The Blues”.
All releases are available to buy securely from this website, Bandcamp, Spotify & Apple Music.
Constantly revising arrangements of songs in the live set and continually writing new songs, Justin Light & The Midnighters bring the blues to a modern audience whilst employing traditional blues structures. The songs engage with personal experience, internet influence, perceived importance of money, modern city living, loneliness, love and hope. Full of catchy hooks, sassy lyrics, stinging guitar tones, groovy bass and incendiary drums, some arrangements are stretched out through intense and free improvisation but always with an ear on the groove and an eye on the audience.
Live dates include various London venues including Ain’t Nothing But…, The Night Owl, Fiddlers Elbow, Water Rats & Temple of Art & Music along with regular, repeat bookings each year at Tenby Blues Festival, Broadstairs Blues Bash & Dereham Blues Festival.
We're out playing live as much as we can so we hope to see you there too and if you know of anywhere who should book us then please get in touch.
